STF guns down criminal in Hathras

The Kanpur field unit of Special Task Force of UP Police gunned down a criminal carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head in Hathras in the early hours.

The Kanpur field unit of Special Task Force of UP Police gunned down a criminal carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head in Hathras in the early hours of Friday.

Police said Kamlesh Yadav was accused in over 15 cases of murder,attempt to murder,dacoity and under the Arms Act in Jalaun,Firozabad,Etah and Gwalior. He was killed in an encounter near Darshana village on Mathura-Hathras road. Brij Lal,ADG (Law and Order),said following a tip-off,the STF had camped on Mathura-Hathras road Friday early morning. Kamlesh was spotted on a motorcycle with another unidentified person.

When the STF personnel attempted to stop them,they opened fire and tried to escape. When the STF returned fire,Kamlesh was hurt and fell from the bike.

While his associate managed to escape,Kamlesh was rushed to the hospital where he died. A revolver with two live cartridges was recovered from his possession.

Kamlesh belongs to Sirsaganj area in Firozabad district,where he had murdered a woman,Simra Devi,in August 2009 and one Satyavir Yadav in September 2009.
