State agencies get a week to come up with survey of slums

Officials of the development authorities and DUDA have begun the survey across the state. A state government official said: “The officials have been asked to remain prepared with the report as it could be sought any time.” After the initial survey about the status of land,listing of families will begin.

In the state capital,the LDA has deputed its one-third of its staff to complete the survey on time. The State Urban Development Authority has provided a list of 530 slums in Lucknow. After visiting these slums,110 teams,comprising 440 LDA employees,have identified 59 slums eligible for the scheme.

“The LDA has shortlisted 59 slums,which have come up on the land of local bodies and development authorities. Now,the process to check the identity and eligibility of dwellers residing in these slums begin. To make the people aware of this scheme,we will publish pamphlets,” LDA Secretary Mani Prasad Mishra said.

According to the latest report,there are 17,220 families residing in these 59 slums. “After the next stage of survey,the figure can change,” said an official.
