Causes of the commercial kind brought three TV stars to the city on Tuesday. And tried as hard as they could to talk only about their endorsements, they couldn’t leave without speaking about other things too.
I have recently done an item number for Madhur Bhandarkar’s under-production Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji, shared Shweta Salve, actress, who has appeared in a number of series beginning with Lipstick and Kitty Party but is best remembered for ‘Left Right Left’ and her stint in a previous season of Khataron ke Khiladi. I have not seen the new season in which Priyanka Chopra is getting the guys to do the tasks…but I feel the previous innings were good because girls rock, she said amidst launching a quarterly magazine Saundarya Sakhi,an initiative of ITC’s Superia brand to promote awareness among the smallest of entrepreneurs running beauty parlours. TV serials have certainly inspired the commonest of people to check the way they look and I guess it is not such a bad thing, she said, making it a point to mention how she loves to come to Lucknow for the lovely people she gets to meet and great food to eat.
Talking about Lucknow, actor Gaurav Khanna never misses opportunity to drive home the fact that he hails from these parts of the country. I was born and brought up in Kanpur but this city has been like second home, said the actor, whose last outing Yeh Pyar Naa Hoga Kam on Colors was a story based in Lucknow. The series came to an abrupt end,but he seems to have his hands full of ad contracts. I am back to doing television and will return shortly to announce my latest project. My lips are sealed…I can’t talk about it yet,but watch out, said Khanna, amidst performing a gag in which his hands were tied to prove how easy it is to shave with Gillette’s latest razor.
For good measure, like in the case of all shaving products promotion activities, there was pretty babe in a short dress Mahi Vij,the actress who plays the ugly Nakusha in Laagi Tujhse Lagan. I am waiting to come out of the ugly shell, but every time I ask the producer I am assured it’s going to be next week, said the petite girl, who has to wear a lot of make-up to appear as nightmarish as she does in the show. Rest of the cast can move around between shots, but I can’t even step out of the sets lest I get shooed away from wherever I go like a beggar, she said, before establishing her own UP connection. My mom is from Kanpur and I have gone there many times, she said, though all she could recollect about the city was a lot of pigs. Oink!
