Jagdish Singh (55) has named nine women in the FIR,which he filed a day after a group of women lodged a complaint that he had spoken rudely with them. One of those named in the FIR is Sarita Singh, the district president of Samajwadi Party’s women wing.

The angry mob of women alleged that Kallu, who was detained for the last three days, was being wrongly implicated. The police had arrested Kallu on charges of assaulting one Nanhe. They were also looking for his two elder brothers — Ram Pratap and Shiv Veer — in an SC/ST Act case lodged a couple of days ago. The women approached SSI Singh and accused the police of levelling false charges against Kallu.

Inspector Brij Kishore Singh, who has also ben sent to the police lines, said: “The SSI spoke to them rudely. When I visited the police station I told the women that Kallu was booked for a bailable offence under Section 151 of the CRPC,and that they must arrange for the surety for his release.”

When the women spotted the SSI entering the police station on his motorcycle, they ran towards him and roughed him up,said the Inspector.

Shahjahanpur SP Krishna Mohan, meanwhile, said that action will be taken against those found guilty.
