The states main opposition,Samajwadi Party, has invited social activist Anna Hazare to Uttar Pradesh to have the first-hand experience of the alleged blatant loot of the state exchequer under the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party regime in the state.
State president of the Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav inviting Anna for a visit to the state, said that after Delhi,UP should be the next place for Anna to start his crusade against corruption as it was at its peak in the state.
Corruption is a mild word to describe the conduct of the Mayawati government. It has degenerated to a blatant loot ever since Mayawati took over as CM in 2007. We invite Anna Hazare to UP so that people of the rest of the country could know the horrible state of affairs prevailing in UP. The visit of Anna Hazare will also vindicate our charges, he said.
Anna runs the risk of being ill-treated by UP Chief Minister Mayawati if he decides to stage dharna similar to the one he held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, said the SP president adding Before coming to Lucknow,Anna Hazare should ensure that he is not meted out with the same treatment as was done with the Samajwadi Party leaders during the three-day statewide protest in March against the corrupt BSP government.
The SP leader alleged that The BSP regime in UP has not spared even hospitals, operation theatres and the postmortem houses from their loot. In my Lok Sabha constituency Kannauj, several crore rupees have been spent on construction of new medical colleges where substandard equipment have been purchased particularly for postmortem unit and the operation theatre.
He said the ruling party leaders and officials have even siphoned off the funds meant for medicines to be distributed among the poor.
