Soon, more AC buses to ply in Lucknow

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation is set to increase its fleet of the swanky blue and pink coloured air-conditioned and non-AC low floor buses plying on the city roads.

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is set to increase its fleet of the swanky blue and pink coloured air-conditioned (AC) and non-AC low floor buses plying on the city roads.

Despite being introduced in the state capital for over three months now,the buses have failed to generate expected revenue and continue to face losses.

“The move is aimed at covering our losses. Less occupancy is also due to less frequency and non-availability of the buses. So,we are hopeful the number of passengers will increase with these additional buses,” said a senior UPSRTC official. The buses are expected to start operating by February 15. “We are working on the modalities of the project,” said Chaman Sharma,Public Relation Officer of UPSRTC.
