Ram Mandir inauguration: Govt sets ball rolling on Ayodhya facelift
The government is ramping up efforts to adorn key routes leading to the temple with depictions of significant episodes from the Ramayana period.

With just over a month left for the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple, the Ayodhya Development Authority has begun the adornment of walls along the major roads leading to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple with terracotta fine clay mural artifacts. As part of this initiative, the authority is also inviting applications to engage potential agencies through a Request for Proposal.
In preparation for January 22, the city of Ayodhya is undergoing a “rejuvenation process”, a government spokesperson said. The government is ramping up efforts to adorn key routes leading to the temple with depictions of significant episodes from the Ramayana period.
“ADA is committed to advancing tourism in Ayodhya through a public-private partnership. Significant efforts are underway to develop state-of-the-art infrastructure in Ayodhya, fostering a dynamic blend of antiquity and modernity within the city,” said a government spokesperson.
According to ADA officials, the planned design, construction, and installation of terracotta artworks and murals along the iconic Dharma Path Road demonstrates Ayodhya’s commitment to preserving its heritage while enhancing its contemporary vibrancy. “This endeavor goes beyond mere decoration; it represents a blend of tradition and modernity, inviting pilgrims and visitors to immerse themselves in the charm of Ayodhya,” said an official.
“The creation of terracotta murals along the Dharma Path road is expected to draw a substantial number of pilgrims and travelers seeking spiritual peace. Serving as cultural guides, these frescoes will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the sacred past and the complex present. The murals are also envisioned to be conduits for knowledge, fostering understanding and unity among those who encounter them. In addition to contributing to the beautification of the city, they will transform Ayodhya into an open-air gallery,” he added.
