Priyanka attends workshop for party workers in Rae Bareli

Priyanka Gandhi visited Rae Bareli for a few hours on Thursday to monitor party activities in her mother Sonia Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency.

Priyanka Gandhi visited Rae Bareli for a few hours on Thursday to monitor party activities in her mother Sonia Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency.

During the five-hour visit,she attended the closing ceremony of a five-day training workshop of party workers from nine blocks and held a meeting of the district congress committee. Asking party workers to perform and ensure that benefits of centrally funded schemes reach people in their respective areas in the constituency,she gave a six-month deadline for review of their performance. “She asked us to assist people in getting benefits of schemes funded by the Centre and asked us to work in coordination with each other. She told us that while the district committee would regularly monitor all the activities,she would be available to listen to our problems,” said a party worker.

Priyanka has been monitoring party activities in the constituency for the past ne year since the Assembly election. She has also been holding regular meetings of party workers and office-bearers in Delhi.

The Congress had performed badly in the Assembly elections and did not win a single assembly seat in Rae Bareli. Organisational elections in the district were monitored by her and training workshops are being conducted for newly elected block and Nyaya Panchayat presidents of the party.

“Out of 21 blocks in Rae Bareli,workshops for 12 blocks were inaugurated and conducted by her. She promised us that she would be part of the closing ceremony also,” said a party leader. The meeting took place at Bhuvemau Guest House in Rae Bareli.
