Lucknow: The Janata Dal (U) Wednesday released its third list of candidates consisting 45 names for the Assembly polls. With this the party has announced 220 candidates. It has fielded sitting BSP MLA Ambika Singh from Sahjanwan and sitting BJP MLA Kaushlendra Nath Yogi from Tulsipur. Party has fielded ex-BJP MP KC Pandey from Khalilabad and ex-Congress leader Parmatma Pratap Singh from Rudhauli. Sources said that BJP denied ticket to Kaushlendra under the pressure of Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath.
Jailed Bajrangi can file nomination
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Wednesday allowed gangster Munna Bajrangi to forward his nomination papers for Assembly polls in UP through Superintendent of Tihar Jail.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Vinod Yadav directed the Director General (Prisons) to make necessary arrangements for sending Bajrangis duly signed nomination paper to the appropriate authority in Jaunpur before due date. Prem Prakash,alias Bajrangi,was arrested in 2009 and is facing a series of charges,including MCOCA. He is also facing trial along with MLA Mukhtar Ansari for allegedly murdering BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai in 2005.
