The police has begun recording statements of the family members of the girl, who was dumped by the roadside in Mungra Badshahpur area of Jaunpur, after she allegedly died in an operation at a private hospital in Kareli area of the city on August 24.
No arrests have been made so far. The hospital had denied that the patient was ever admitted there.
The family members of the 13-year-old victim,Nisha, have told the police that she was taken to Shah Hospital on August 22. She was operated upon on August 24 late in the afternoon. She died during the operation but the doctors told Nishas mother,Uma Devi, that she was only unconscious.
According to the family members, the doctors convinced Uma that they were taking Nisha to a bigger hospital. But they took Nisha and her mother back to Mungra Badshahpur and dumped Nishas body by the roadside at 3 am, said Baliram Saroj,Circle Officer (Kotwali),who is also the investigating officer in the case.
He added that the statements of the victims family members were being recorded and further action would be taken accordingly.
Saroj added that the hospital was being run by a person, who used to run a dispensary in Mungra Badshahpur area five or six years ago. A major chunk of patients at the hospital are from that area of Jaunpur,as they come through references, said the officer.
Nobody from Shah Hospital could be reached despite repeated attempts.
