Bollywood stars Sunday lined up in support of Jaaved Jaaferi, the AAP candidate from Lucknow.
Apart from Jaaved’s father and yesteryear actor Jagdeep, and brother Naved, also present were Vishal Dadlani, Archana Puran Singh, Raghu Ram, Ayub Khan and Lubna Salim.
Former vice-chancellor of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University Shiv Mohan Singh and former PCS officer Baba Hardev, who contested as the Aam Aadmi Party candidate against Mulayam Singh Yadav in Mainpuri, were also present. Campaigning ends in Lucknow on Monday.
Jaaved, who has spent nearly three weeks in Lucknow, said that in this duration he has “seen and learnt a lot.”
Referring to former Chief Minister Mayawati’s memorials, he said: “I was shown parks in Lucknow, which have been made at a cost of Rs 6,000 crore from public money. Had this money been used for hospitals and schools, it would have changed the landscape of Lucknow.
Moreover, Rs 300 crore is spent annually on the maintenance of these parks while the government doesn’t have Rs 300 for people living on the roads,” he said.
Responding to a question, his father Jagdeep said that politics was full of thorns but after Mahatma Gandhi, if there is anyone who has made an impact for good it is Arvind Kejriwal.
Raghu Ram said that till now he used a lot of expletives in reality TV show Roadies, but this year audience will witness a change.
“If you look closely, each episode (where I abused) was a call for change. Ever since I met Arvind, Yogendra Yadav and Kumar Vishwas, I have changed for good,” he said.
“If they have managed to change me, then they would certainly change India for good,” quipped Raghu.
