The State Election Commission (SEC) has issued notification for by-elections to be conducted to fill the vacant posts of members in gram panchayats,gram pradhans,kshetra panchayats and zila panchayats in the state. As per the notification,candidates can file their nominations on December 9 while scrutiny of their papers will take place on December 10. Symbols would be allotted to candidates on December 12. Polling will be held on December 18 and counting of votes will take place on December 20. Joint Election Commissioner JP Singh said that District Magistrates have been asked to identify the vacant seats and conduct the elections as per the notification there.
