Bringing back memories of the anti-polythene drive he led during his tenure as the states urban development minister,BJP candidate Lalji Tandon will be following a no-plastic mantra for his campaign.
With plans to start off campaigning as soon as he files his nomination papers, the candidate for the Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency will ensure that no polythene or plastic buntings are used. Emphasis is laid on personal interactions instead of painting the town saffron.
Tandons son and poll manager Gopal Tandon told The Indian Express: He has always led this crusade against the use of polythene and plastic. During his stint as a minister,he managed to ban it. Even during campaigning for his assembly seat,he had ensured that no plastics were used. He feels strongly about the environment and realises that even election material can harm it in a big way.
Tandon, who is contesting from one of the most coveted constituencies of the party held by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, will depend on the old school style of public interaction.
Said Gopal Tandon: He has been a crusader for saving the environment and this time too,we will ensure that nothing goes wrong. He is a popular face and we will insist on getting closer to the people for the poll campaign.
