Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday asserted that no one dared to engineer Muzaffarnagar-like riots in Uttar Pradesh since the BJP formed government in the state in 2017.

Inaugurating the ‘Gram Parikrama Yatra’ from Shukratal, a place of pilgrimage in Muzaffarnagar district, the CM claimed that their party’s double-engine government at the Centre and in the state fulfilled the centuries-old dream of the people of the country by constructing the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

The CM highlighted that the ‘Gram Parikrama Yatra’, led by BJP Kisan Morcha, is centered around nine resolutions of water conservation, digital payments, cleanliness drives, vocal for local and domestic tourism, organic farming, promoting millets, encouraging rural sports, and providing healthcare and assistance to economically disadvantaged farmers.

“We have decided to bring out the ‘Gram Parikrama Yatra’ to spread the feeling of brotherhood which was developed during the BJP government in the state since 2017. It is to keep the people united and the society free of riots. During the yatra, BJP leaders will stay overnight in villages to make locals aware of welfare measures initiated by the PM since 2014 for the upliftment of all sections of society, especially the poor and the downtrodden,” he said.

“People of this country were dreaming of a Ram temple in Ayodhya for the last 500 years which was turned into a reality by the double-engine government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Muzaffarnagar witnessed horrific riots spanning over months in 2013. Our party leaders were jailed at that time. But have there been riots anywhere in the state in the last seven years? Can anyone dare think of engineering riots now? This is a major achievement of the double-engine government,” Adityanath added.

Also, the CM accused the previous governments in the state of being involved in nepotism and corruption, and appointing their relatives to government positions while disregarding merit. “The youth of the state remained cheated during the tenure of the previous governments. Today, about 60,000 civil police constables are being recruited in the state without any discrimination,” he added.

Interacting with the beneficiaries of various government schemes, Adityanath claimed that over 99 per cent of last year’s sugarcane price had been paid.

“Out of the 119 operational sugar mills in the state, 105 are settling payments to sugarcane farmers within 10 days. We are exerting pressure on the remaining mills. The government is steadfast in ensuring that hardworking ‘Annadata’ farmers receive their dues promptly,” he said.

In the Jat-dominated belt, the CM reminded the gathering that no other government ever thought of conferring the country’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna on Jat farmer leader and former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh.

“It is PM Modi who decided to honour the great leader from west UP who contributed to the welfare of the people,” he said.
