Hoping for a reconciliation with the Left,Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Saturday said his party had committed a mistake by supporting the UPA-I after the Communists withdrew support on the nuclear deal issue. Yadav, who is trying to regain the lost bonhomie with the Left by joining the nationwide strike by 13 parties on April 27 against price rise, said deliberations with the Left in this regard would be held after the stir. Asked whether the strike call would bring SP closer to the Left,Yadav said he had raised the matter at a meeting of parties in Delhi earlier this month. They (Left) agreed on it and said talks in this regard would be held after April 27, he said. On differences between the two sides,Yadav said not only they,we too had committed a mistake. what was the need to extend support to the UPA government when the Left had parted ways. Issuing a call for shutdown across the state on April 27,the SP chief said the call is part of a nationwide mission to put up a united front of 13 political parties that are seriously concerned about the rising prices. He also demanded that the UPA government should table the investigation report into the alleged kickbacks and financial irregularities in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the current session of the Parliament. The investigation into the alleged irregularities in the IPL is being conducted by the Income Tax department and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The UPA government should table the investigation report of the Income Tax department and the ED so that the people involved in the mega scam can be exposed at the earliest, said the SP chief. Reiterating the demand for a probe by the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) into the IPL,Yadav, however, sounded soft towards the two union ministers, whose name has figured in the controversy. Let the investigation report be tabled in the Parliament and only then there will be a justification in the demand for resignation of the ministers, said the SP chief. Taking serious exception of being described as the Yadav trio by the media, the SP chief said it was the Yadav trio (Mulayam-Laloo- Sharad) who acted as a whistleblower and raised the IPL issue in the Parliament. It is a different issue that now the other parties, including BJP,are trying to take political mileage out of it, Yadav added. Asked if the UPA government was hesitant to accept the JPC probe,Yadav said: The government has assured that it will consider the demand and we are waiting for their answer. With PTI inputs
