MP Police gets DNA test done to prove encounter killing

Ram Kumar Singh,who was Nayagaon police station SHO in Satna district when the DNA report was received,said the report has confirmed that the skeleton was that of Patel. While the report has been sent to the district administration,another detailed report — mentioning the names of the policemen who were part of the team that killed the dacoit — has been submitted to the Rewa Zone IG for formalities related to the grant of the reward money.

Patel (45),who was on the run for the last 10 years,was wanted by the police forces of both UP and MP in over 25 criminal cases. He was a member of dacoit Ram Singh Goud’s gang. Goud,who carried a reward of Rs 2.5 lakh from UP government,was killed by rival gang in Banda district in March this year. The gang was active in ravines along the UP-MP border.

On September 28 last year,an encounter between police and a group of dacoits had taken place in the ravines of Satna. Two of Patel’s associates — Gyan Singh and Munna Mawasi — were arrested. The police had then claimed that some dacoits appeared to have sustained gunshot injuries during the clash.

Later in October,the police recovered a skeleton from Thar Pahad thickets — a dense hilly area in Nayagaon area. The police had gone there following a report that Patel’s body was lying there. During a search operation,the police found a skeleton,clothes and a few other things.
