The party's announcement in this regard came after Akhilesh Yadav with wife and MP Dimple Yadav and other MPs of Samajwadi Party met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and raised the issue.

SAMAJWADI PARTY (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday formed a delegation of Samajwadi Party MPs and MLAs including Sambhal MP Zia-ur-Rehman Barq, which will visit Sambhal, gather information about the violence and submit a report to him.
The delegation includes: Mata Prasad Pandey, Leader of Opposition, Legislative Assembly; Lal Bihari Yadav, Leader of Opposition, Legislative Council. Javed Ali, Rajya Sabha MP as well as Lok Sabha MPs including Harinder Malik, Ruchi Vira; Zia Ur Rehman Barq; Neeraj Maurya. It also include MLAs i.e. Nawab Iqbal, Pinky Yadav, Kamal Akhtar along with Jaiveer Yadav, the SP’s Moradabad district chief and Shivcharan Kashyap, its district president in Bareilly.
The party’s announcement in this regard came after Akhilesh Yadav with wife and MP Dimple Yadav and other MPs of Samajwadi Party met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and raised the issue of the “violence in Sambhal”. Members of the delegation were also part of the group that met Birla.
Earlier in the day, Akhilesh alleged, “The BJP government has deliberately caused the riots in Sambhal to hide its failures and divert the attention of the public. The BJP government is committing injustice and atrocities.”
He alleged that he wanted to raise the issue in the Lok Sabha but was not given the opportunity. He said that while SP would raise the issue when it gets the chance but in the meantime, an SP delegation would go there.
Asked SP MP Zia-ur-Rehman Barq being named in an FIR over the Sambhal violence, Akhilesh Yadav claimed, “The Sambhal MP (Barq) was not in Sambhal on that day. He was in Bengaluru to take part in an event. A false case has been registered against him.”
Barq was earlier SP MLA from Kundarki Assembly seat of Moradabad. He is the grandson of former SP MP from Sambhal Shafiqur Rehman Barq.
