Modi calls BJP’s Varanasi leaders to Delhi, discusses development

Modi reportedly told party leaders that he wants to develop Varanasi as a model tourism city of country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday held a meeting with BJP MLAs and other leaders of Varanasi at his residence in Delhi to the development of his Lok Sabha constituency.

Sources said Modi was informed about the ongoing projects as well as those pending due to the “indifferent attitude” of the state government and previous UPA government were.

The PM is learnt to have told party MLAs of Varanasi to submit proposals of development works that need to be carried out urgently in the district.

He reportedly told the party leaders that he wants to develop Varanasi as a model tourism city of the country.

He is also learnt to have sought suggestions for redressal of problems like traffic congestion and sewage problems in the city.

Among those present in the meeting were party’s UP president Laxmikant Bajpai, state general secretary (organisation) Sunil Bansal, Varanasi Mayor Ram Gopal Mohle, party MLA from Varanasi North Ravindra Jaiswal, Varanasi Cantonment MLA Jyotsna Srivastava, Varanasi South MLA Shyamdev Rai Chaudhary, Kashi region president Laxman Acharya, district president of Varanasi city Tulsi Subramaniyam Joshi, Varanasi zila president Azad Singh Gautam and election coordinator in Varanasi Ashok Dhawan.

“It was a courtesy meet. Modiji asked the MLAs about the ongoing development works as well as pending projects in Varanasi city,” said a party leader who attended the meeting.
