Four days after the Gomti Nagar police showed the alleged murder and sexual assault of a four-year-old girl as killing by stray dogs,two police officials have been suspended for dereliction of duty.
Gomti Nagar Circle Officer V S Mishra said Lucknow Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) J Ravinder Goud Friday suspended the then station officer of Gomti Nagar police station Devendra Kumar Dubey and police outpost in-charge Sub-Inspector V R Vikram. Both were transferred to reserve police line Wednesday,a day after the postmortem report revealed that the girl was killed by causing multiple injuries and had also been sexually assaulted.
Several women activists had demonstrated on Thursday,demanding action against the police officials.
