Minor cannot be put in lock-up: SC

The Supreme Court Monday sought a report from the Uttar Pradesh government on the detention of a 10-year-old rape victim in Bulandshahr. “A minor cannot be put in lock up,” the court said. The court,meanwhile,received a report on the incident from the National Legal Services Authority and directed the UP government to examine it before filing its report. The court had taken suo motu cognisance of The Indian Express report on the detention of the girl.
