BSP chief Mayawati on Monday demanded the removal of Assam governor P B Acharya and demanded appropriate action against him for his statement on Muslims, which she described as “unconstitutional” and “irresponsible”.
“It is not appropriate for people holding constitutional posts to make such undignified statements, going against the constitution. But unfortunately, the BJP government at the Centre has appointed several such people with polluted mindset and affiliated to
the RSS, at constitutional posts,” Mayawati said in a statement.
She said the peace-loving majority and the intellectuals are not worried that a handful of violent and intolerant people have become fearless, but their real worry was that the NDA government is not only failing to stop these anti-social and criminal elements, it is also providing shelter and security to them.
Mayawati said this will be clear after an analysis of the list of persons given security by the Centre and BJP-ruled states.
She said making undignified and hatred-filled statements is a “new fatal disease” and it is natural that there will be a debate on it.
She said the “strange and unprecedented” situation, which is being created, is hurting the image of the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said people are now understanding the difference between the words and deeds of the BJP.
That Modi is not concerned about the situation is evident from the fact that he and his government functionaries have said they feel proud to call themselves RSS members which, Mayawati said, adding the RSS does not believe in the central idea of a pluralistic India.
