Chief Minister Mayawati dedicated to people a number of projects, including a new park in Lucknow,on the 54th death anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution.

The projects include new Dr B R Ambedkar Gomti Park and Dr B R Ambedkar Gomti Vihar Khand in the city. Mayawati first reached Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal and paid floral tributes to Ambedkar. Then she unveiled two statues of Ambedkar installed on the Ambedkar Gomti Park and the Gomti Vihar Khand-1.

Speaking on the occasion, she reminded people about Ambedkar’s contribution to society — that he was the one who enabled Dalits to live a life with dignity. Ambedkar, she said, had made provisions of reservation in the Constitution for those who are socially, economically and educationally backward, which paved the way for their rise in the society.

Referring to BSP rule in the state, she said her government is making the best effort to establish an egalitarian society by following the path Ambedkar laid out.

She gave credit to Ambedkar for making them a power centre. Her government, she said, has already undertaken scheme “Dr Ambedkar Gram Vikash Yojana”. She also reminded the OBC community that they are getting the reservation facilities because of the provisions laid down in the Constitution by Ambedkar.
