(Express Photo)A Mathura court has rejected a revision application of Hindu petitioners seeking disposal of their plea for carrying out a survey of the Shahi Idgah Masjid first.
Tanveer Ahmed, the counsel for the Shahi Idgah Masjid management committee, said the Hindu petitioners were pressing for the disposal of their application on the survey of the mosque ahead of other applications, including that of the maintainability of the suit.
The Hindu petitioners had filed a revision application against the order of a lower court, which was passed on July 21 last year.
The lower court had ordered a day-to-day hearing on an application moved by the counsel for the Shahi Idgah mosque management committee challenging the maintainability of the suit filed by Hindu petitioners. The application was filed under order 7, rule 11 of the Civil Procedure Code.
Ahmed said the court on Saturday, while hearing the revision application, found that the lower court order was passed on the basis of evidence and it does not require interference.
Advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh, one of the petitioners, said: “We will wait and decide our next course of action.”

A court last year allowed an appeal by the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust and other parties seeking ownership of the land on which the mosque is built.
