Nine Delhi police officials have been booked in the killing of Manoj Vashisht who died in an alleged fake police encounter at a restaurant in Central Delhi on May 16. Manoj was a native of Baghpat district in UP.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s younger brother, Anil Vashisht, the nine officers — inspector Dharmendra Kumar, sub-inspectors Vivek Singh and Bhoop Singh, head constables Sanjay Pal Singh, Anil Raghav, and constables Jitendra Kumar, Abdul Ahmed Khan, Mohit Salve and Munish Solanki — have been booked under sections 147, 148, 149, 302 and 506 of the IPC.
Circle Officer, Baghpat City, N P Singh confirmed the development, adding that documents related with the case would now be sent to the Delhi Police since the incident took place there.
SHO, City Kotwali police station, K M Dhore said Anil alleged that Manoj was killed by officers of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell “in a planned manner”. He has also stated that he and his family have been receiving threats to not pursue the case.
