A 48-year-old man shot dead his wife in front of their 11-year-old daughter following an argument at their flat in Ghaziabad on Tuesday, police said. The couple had been living separately for the past month due to a family dispute, officers added. The accused, identified as Vikas Sehrawat, has been absconding since the incident, officers said. According to police, Sehrawat’s wife, Ruby (45), lived with their two daughters, aged 11 and 16. At the time of the incident, the elder daughter had left for school, officers added. Police said that preliminary inquiry revealed that Sehrawat, who was allegedly addicted to alcohol, had come to the flat on Tuesday to collect his passport and Aadhaar card. “During the visit, an argument broke out between him and Ruby. In a fit of rage, he shot her,” ACP (Nandgram) Upasna Pandey. Ruby was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead, officers added. Police said the younger daughter, who witnessed the shooting, is currently in a state of shock. Police said that the weapon used in the crime was illegal. An FIR for murder has been registered at the Nandgram police station, officers added.
