(Express Photo)Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday unveiled the logo, website and a mobile app for Mahakumbh-2025 in Prayagraj, and asserted that the mega event is “an opportunity to showcase India’s ‘sanatan sanskriti’ (eternal culture) to the entire world.
The CM, who took stock of the arrangements with ministers and senior government officials, said no sale of meat and liquor should take place within the “traditional boundaries” of Prayagraj.
Adityanath asked the officials concerned to co-ordinate with seers and for better management and set December 10 as the deadline for completing all preparations for the mela.
Claiming the Mahakumbh will set new standards of cleanliness, security, and convenience, Adityanath said, “Uttar Pradesh had set high standards by successfully organising the 2019 Kumbh, raising the expectations of people for this event. The mela area, which spanned over 3,200 hectares in 2019, will now be expanded to over 4,000 hectares.”
More than 7,000 buses would be deployed and over 150,000 toilets installed for the event, the CM announced. Maintaining that nearly 10,000 workers be deployed as part of the sanitation effort, he assured that the Ganga and Yamuna rivers will flow uninterrupted and clean during the Mahakumbh, with zero discharge of waste from Bijnor to Ballia.
The CM also directed the officials to ensure the steel bridge is completed by the first week of December to facilitate an easy access to Prayagraj from Kanpur, Lucknow, Barabanki, and Ayodhya.
It was also informed during the review that the mela area will have three police lines, three women’s police stations, and ten police posts. Officials were asked to create a “VVIP corridor” from the airport to the fairground and ensure that no VIP movement takes place during the special bathing rituals.
Highlighting the importance of effective crowd management, fire services, help desks, parking facilities, and CCTV surveillance, the Chief Minister also announced the installation of an anti-drone system while stressing that security models should make use of “AI tools”. Stressing the need for establishing new Government Railway Police (GRP) stations for security, Adityanath asked the officials to ensure better coordination between the railway authorities and the state police.
