Lucknow: Kachha-Baniyan gang strikes thrice, leaves 7 injured in 3 villages

SEVEN persons including a Nagar panchayat chairperson were injured after over a dozen members of the infamous Kachha-Baniyan gang attacked three houses in adjoining villages in Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) police station area on Lucknow outskirts in early hours of Tuesday.

Kureel said, the gang first attacked Nagar panchayat chairperson Suman Rawat’s house at Bheekha Purva village. As they were trying to break the door on the rear portion of the house, Rawat and her nephews Abhijeet and Arvind woke up and resisted the attempt. When they did not stop, Rawat’s husband Ganesh fired from his licensed rifle, forcing the miscreants to flee.

Hearing gunshots, locals too had gathered at the house.

CO said Rawat and her nephews suffered minor injuries when they put resistance to prevent breaking of the door.

According to SSP’s spokesperson, around an hour later, the gang raided house of one Vimal Yadav at neighbouring Akhori village and entered the house after breaking a portion of the wall. They attacked the sleeping family members with sticks. As the victims raised alarm, villagers gathered at Yadav’s house following which the miscreants fled. They took away a purse containing a pair of earrings only.

In the attack, Vimal’s wife Saroj and father Ram Chandra suffered serious injuries. They have been admitted to a local hospital, police said.

The police team staying at Bheekha Purva village was informed about the attempt and they rushed to Akhori. As they were busy with primary investigation, the gang reached adjacent Vijaypura village and entered one Kishan’s house. They beat up inmates with sticks and were searching for the valuables when the locals there gathered forcing the robbers to escape.

In the attack, Kishan and his elder brother Dharmendra suffered serious injuries and were rushed to the KGMU Trauma Centre.
