Job racket: HC stays arrest of top cop’s son

The Allahabad High Court on Friday stayed the arrest of Ritesh Sinha,who is allegedly part of a racket that collected money from youths after promising them jobs with the police.

The Allahabad High Court on Friday stayed the arrest of Ritesh Sinha,who is allegedly part of a racket that collected money from youths after promising them jobs with the police.

Ritesh is the son of D P Sinha — Director General of Rules and Manuals.

A Division Bench comprising Justices Yatindra Singh and Shree Kant Tripathi stayed his arrest and directed the state government to file a reply.

“The court did not find any prima facie evidence against Ritesh. He cannot be arrested only on somebody’s statement. The court was satisfied and stayed his arrest,” said Gopal Chaturvedi,senior advocate and counsel of the petitioner.

On December 7,Prashant Kapil,in-charge of the Economic Offences Cell of the police,had lodged an FIR in Saharanpur alleging that one Dhoom Singh was collecting money from youths by promising them jobs of follower in the Police department.

It was alleged that Singh,a BSP leader,had stated that Ritesh assured he would ensure the appointments.
