JE murder: Police look at dispute with contractors

Etah Additional SP (ASP) Raju Babu Singh told The Indian Express that primary investigation so far has found that Saxena had left home around 8.30 pm on Wednesday after receiving a phone call. The caller had told the JE that there was a power failure in Kayamganj area following some fault and had requested him to look into it.

Singh said that Saxena had left home for Kayamganj later after which he did not return home and his body was recovered from the roadside on Aliganj-Kayamganj Road.

The inquiry also revealed that there was no power failure in Kayamganj area and the call made to Saxena was part of the murder conspiracy.

The police have collected the call detail report of Saxena’s phone and has got the mobile number which was used to make the call on Wednesday. The details of the particular mobile number were collected from the concerned operator,only to find the name and the address as fake.

The ASP added that the call detail report confirmed the location of the caller within 200 metres where Saxena’s body was found.

He said that employees at the sub-station where Saxena was posted told the police that the engineer was a drunkard and used to come to his office in drunken state frequently.

Some local private contractors of power department used to visit Saxena frequently and used to have liquor too. The police are probing if he had entered into a dispute with any of the contractors leading to his murder.

They are working on some important clues related to the suspects,Singh confirmed.

When contacted,Saxena’s son Rahul said that they were unaware if his father had any dispute with anybody.
