The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court issued a notice on Thursday to Springdale College,Indira Nagar,for terminating the services of Anupma Singh,a litigant in the Taj Corridor case.

The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court issued a notice on Thursday to Springdale College,Indira Nagar,for terminating the services of Anupma Singh,a litigant in the Taj Corridor case.

Hearing Singh’s plea,contending that she had been removed on the behest of Chief Minister Mayawati against whom she is seeking resumption of proceedings in a scam worth Rs 175 crore,the court issued a notice asking school director Krishna Sood to appear in person and explain why the directives should not be issued against her to reinstate the petitioner.

“The court has taken a strong view of the matter and fixed the next hearing on February 18,” said Rohit Tripathi,Counsel of Anupma,a librarian,who was sacked by the school on Tuesday. She had been working in the school for the last six years.

Two get death for double-murder in Bareilly
Two murder accused were sentenced to death by a Bareilly court while another murder accused was awarded life term by a Pilibhit court on Wednesday and Tuesday,respectively. ADG (Law & Order) Brij Lal claimed the accused were sentenced within two years of charge-sheets being filed in the court by the police. In Bareilly,Brij Lal said,the chargesheet was filed in a case relating to the murder of cable operators Akhilesh Yadav and Amit Yadav in Subhash Nagar area on October 10,2007. The accused had shot dead the victims following dispute over not paying the cable rent. The charge-sheet was filed against two of the accused,Raju Maurya and Sanjay Maurya,before the court on January 1,2008.

After the trial in the case,the court of ADJ-II awarded death sentence to both of the accused on Wednesday,the ADG said. Meanwhile,on Tuesday,the Fast Track Court in Pilibhit handed down life term and a penalty of Rs 10,000 to an accused in a case of kidnapping and subsequent murder of a woman — Chameli Devi (60). The woman was kidnapped and murdered in Madho Tanda area on July 2,2008 and the charge-sheet in the case was filed in the court on July 29,2008.  

Notice to postal officials for violating court directives
The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court issued a notice to the state chief post master general and the chief telegraph officer for not complying with the High Court order,directing them to ensure that all telegram petitions to the High Court should be affixed with the photograph of the petitioners.
