An unrecognised, little-known political party in Bundelkhand has taken upon Union minister Uma Bharti (BJP MP from Jhansi) and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for being “missing” and not meeting the families of the farmers who have died after losing their crops to unseasonal rain and hailstorm.
In its posters that contain a message with pictures of Bharti and Gandhi and which it has put up at various public places, the Bharatiya Prajashakti Party (BPP) has not only declared the two leaders as “missing”, it has also announced a reward to anyone who will bring the two leaders back (in Jhansi) to attend the last rites of the deceased farmers.

“Bundelkhand mein kisano ke ghar khana khane wale va bundelon ke vikas ki chinta kar kheto me fhawda chalane wale Congress neta Rahul Gandhi aur khud ko Bundelkhand ki beti kehne wali Uma Bharti gayab hain. Olawristi ke baad Bundelkhand me 50 kisan mar chuke hain. Dono neta madad nahin kar sakte to koi baat nain lekin kisano ki antyesti me shamil ho hi sakte hain. Iske liye inki talash hai. Talaashne wale ko uschi inaam,” reads the poster.
The party’s president, Pankaj Rawat, said both the leaders have in the past claimed to be the well-wisher of farmers of Bundelkhand but none of them have either visited Jhansi or expressed condolences to the families who lost their crops and their breadwinners. Rawat said that the leaders did not even send their representatives to meet the farmers’ families. BPP had contested Assembly election from Babina and Jhansi Mahanagar in 2012 but lost.
