3 die in Agra mudslide
LUCKNOW: Three labourers died as a mud pile caved in during construction work for an unmetalled road in Agra districts Kagarol area on Sunday. The incident took place in Naglabirja village,where digging was in progress. Ajay Prajapati (20),Rakesh Prajapati (22) and Sukhpal (22) were trapped under a heap of mud that caved in during digging, said Ranpal Singh,Inspector (Kagarol). Following the incident,villagers staged a demonstration,pelted stones and damaged police vehicles demanding compensation to the kin of the victims. Three persons were arrested in this connection.
Three-yr-old feared dead
LUCKNOW: A three-year-old girl was feared drowned in a drain in Lucknows Madioan area on Sunday evening. Ruhana was playing outside her house when she accidentally fell in the drain,which is connected to a nullah. It has rained heavily in the evening. We are taking help from the locals to trace her, said P K Srivastava,in-charge of Madioan police station.
12 injured as bus rams tree
JAUNPUR: Over a dozen passengers were injured when a tourist bus rammed a tree at Jaunpurs Shivgulam Ganj area on Sunday. The incident took place along the Varanasi-Lucknow highway when the driver lost control of the bus and hit a tree. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where the condition of three was stated to be serious.
