Govt transfers 7 IPS officers
The state government transferred seven senior IPS officers,including DIGs of Saharanpur and Basti ranges,on Tuesday. Saharanpur Range DIG Anand Swaroop replaced Basti Range DIG Abhimanyu Tripathi,who was transferred to the UP Police Promotion & Recruitment Board (UPPRB). Bhola Nath Singh,who had been looking after charges of DIG of Police Training School in Meerut and the PAC,will take charge as Saharanpur Range DIG. Gyan Singh,who was the DIG at Food & Drug Administration (FDA),has been transferred as Basti Range DIG. Another DIG at FDA,Hari Ram Sharma — who was earlier transferred to UPPRB — has been asked to stay with the FDA. Meanwhile,Saharanpur SSP Amit Chandra has swapped places with Jhansi SSP V K Dohre.

Bihar election results have scared BSP: BJP
Alleging that the state government is afraid after the BSP’s performance in the recent Bihar Assembly polls,the BJP said on Tuesday that the party is now trying to show it is working for the development of UP. State BJP president Surya Pratap Shahi,addressing the media,said that BJP has performed well because of its development policies. “But the Mayawati government has failed to develop the state in its three-and-half-year tenure. Now,they want things to be done in a hurry,which is why she (Mayawati) is conducting these review meetings,” said Shahi.

Law & order dismal,UPCC blames govt
State Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi said though the UP government has failed to manage the law and order situation,it is prattling about its achievements. In an official communique,Joshi said that UP contributes to around 55 to 60 per cent of complaints of crime against women in the National Women Commission,yet the chief minister claims that the law and order situation is fine in the state. On December 28,the party will prepare a chargesheet of the Mayawati government across all districts,she added.
