The Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University has appointed Prof Priyankar Upadhyaya as the chairholder of the UNESCO Chair for Peace and Inter Cultural Understanding.

Professor appointed UNESCO Chair of BHU

The Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University has appointed Prof Priyankar Upadhyaya as the chairholder of the UNESCO Chair for Peace and Inter Cultural Understanding. The chair was established at the Malviya Centre for Peace Research and BHU is the first Indian university to have an exclusive chair of the UNESCO.

According to an official communique,Upadhyaya was chosen after his name was confirmed by a screening committee and approved by UNESCO. The chair was established at BHU in December 2010.

Kalraj addresses BJP rally

The BJP organised a Gram Chetna Rally at village Sarkauda at Sultanpur district on Friday. National vice president of the BJP,Kalraj Mishra,addressed the rally. Mishra said that development of UP had taken a backseat for both the UPA at the Centre and BSP government in state.
