HC frowns on Illegal Unani,Ayurveda courses

The Allahabad High Court has expressed its displeasure over medical colleges in UP conducting Ayurveda and Unani courses without getting due recognition from Central Council for Indian Medicine,despite an order passed in this regard five years ago.

Last Friday,Justice Sunil Ambawani had asked the state Secretary (Ayurvedic and Unani Medicine) to file an affidavit in this regard within three weeks,failing which the court would order a ban on admission in these courses in 10 medical colleges for the 2011-12 session.

The court has fixed April 24 as the next date of hearing in the case.
