Governor Ram Naik invites all state MPs for ‘discussion on development’

He said the views of the MPs regarding development projects of UP government and the problems affecting such schemes would be welcome.

Governor Ram Naik Monday invited all the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members from Uttar Pradesh for a “positive and fruitful discussion on development of the state”.

“In one year of my term in office, I have not been able to meet you in Raj Bhavan. It would give me pleasure to meet you and have fruitful discussion over development of the state,” Naik said in a letter, copies of which has been sent to all the Parliamentarians from UP.

Naik wrote that in the past one year of his tenure, he visited several districts and tried to understand the the social environment of the region and the problems those areas faced. He said that he continues to discuss the problems with the state government and has been offering suggestions for their redress, too.

He said the views of the MPs regarding development projects of UP government and the problems affecting such schemes would be welcome.

Pointing out that he is also the Chancellor of 25 universities of the state, Naik wrote that he is committed to improving standard of education and suggested that MPs can inform him about the problems that colleges and universities in their respective regions face.

Of the total 80 Lok Sabha MPs, 71 are from BJP and include Prime Minister Narendra Modi (from Varanasi) apart from several others in Union Cabinet such as Home Minister Rajnath Singh (Lucknow), Ganga Rejuvenation Minister Uma Bharti (Jhansi), MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra (Deoria) and Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi. Apna Dal and Congress have two MPs each in Lok Sabha while Samajwadi Party has five.

It may be mentioned that recently, BJP MPs sat on dharna in Lucknow alleging that UP government was not undertaking works proposed under their MPLAD funds. They had also alleged that state government was biased in implementation of the welfare schemes.
