After showcasing NDA unity during the filing of nomination of BJP candidate Dara Singh Chauhan for the Ghosi Assembly bypoll in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh, the ruling party has planned to leave no stone unturned to win the seat which was won by Chauhan last year on a Samajwadi Party (SP) ticket.
The party has also planned a roadshow of actor-turned-politician Dinesh Lal Yadav “Nirahua” in the Assembly constituency.
Chauhan, an OBC leader, is pitted against Samajwadi Party’s Sudhakar Singh, a Thakur, in the bypoll that was necessitated following Chauhan’s resignation from the SP and Assembly membership before joining the BJP.
The BJP’s campaign will officially kick off on Monday (August 21) with “Samajik Pravas” where OBC leaders from the local Gorakhpur region such as MP Sakaldeep Rajbhar, former MP Harinarayan Rajbhar, MLC Ramsurat Rajbhar and MLA Jaiprakash Nishad will attend public meeting to reach out to voters.
A similar “samajik pravas” will be organised from August 25 to September 1 in which state ministers, including Swatantra Dev Singh, Ravindra Jaiswal, Dayashankar Singh, AK Sharma, Narendra Kashyap, Vijay Laxmi Gautam, Danish Azad Ansari, Asim Arun, will take part.
Between August 21 and 24, Danish Azad Ansari, the lone Muslim minister in the Adityanath government, will be campaigning among the voters of his community.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Nishad Party president Sanjay Nishad and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar will address public meetings, organised by the party’s OBC Morcha, on August 27.

Nishad Party and SBSP are allies of the BJP and have a voter base among the Nishad and Rajbhar – both OBC communities, respectively.
In a bid to make a dent in SP’s Yadav vote base, the BJP has decided to rope in Azamgarh MP Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua and Rajya Sabha member Sangeeta Yadav for campaigning.
Nirahua’s roadshow will be organised on September 3, the last day of campaigning. As a Bhojpuri actor, Nirahua has a following among the youths in east UP. There are over 40,000 Yadav voters in Ghosi.
With both the BSP and the Congress not fielding their candidates, BJP has asked former MLAs Chhattu Ram and Dhananjay Kanaujia to reach out to Dalits.
Public meetings will be also organised of other frontal wings of the BJP, including its Scheduled Caste Morcha, Minority Morcha, Yuva Morcha, Mahila Morcha, and Kisan Morcha.

Mahila Morcha has been asked to also reach out to the beneficiaries of various government schemes and appeal to them to vote for the BJP.
BJP state unit president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary and party general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh will also travel to the constituency and take stock of poll management. From August 31 to September 1, the party will hold a “booth vijay abhiyan” in which workers and leaders will reach out to every household for votes and distribute voter slips.
On the eve of Adityanath’s rally, the party’s youth wing will take out a bike rally in the town. “With these many leaders campaigning, the BJP will reach out to voters of every caste and community and get their support to win the bypoll,” BJP’s bypoll coordinator Akhilesh Tiwari said.
