Former BSP minister Ram Achal Rajbhar and his two sons,Ajay and Sanjay,have been booked for shooting at a youth in Sammanpur area of Ambedkar Nagar district on Thursday.
Sanjay Rajbhar had contested the Assembly elections from Akbarpur as BSP candidate and lost to his SP rival Ram Murti Verma.
Police said following Sanjay Rajbhars defeat,a section of villagers decided not to celebrate Holi.
Late in the afternoon,SP supporters organised a celebration in an open field and some villagers objected to it. The SP men reportedly misbehaved with Ajay Rajbhar while he was passing by.
In a complaint,villager Ram Jawahar alleged that Ajay opened fire on the villagers in which one person,identified as Anil Verma,suffered bullet injury.
The victim,who sustained bullet injury on his head,is admitted to the CSMMU Trauma centre in Lucknow where his condition is stated to be critical.
Police said the minister and his other son were not there at the time of the incident. The compaint against the minister and his sons was lodged by a villager,Ram Juhar.
Angry over the incident,the rival community members torched Rajbhars rice mill in the same area and over half-a-dozen vehicles. The police lodged an FIR against the villagers.
