Over 24 members of Sansi and Bhantu tribes on Saturday lodged an FIR against Gujarat-based self-proclaimed godman Dr Ashok Jadeja,his wife and aides at the Govardhan police station of Mathura.
The complainants alleged that Jadeja and his accomplices had collected over Rs 50 lakh from them in March claiming they would double their amount within a month. Jadeja,his wife and aides were arrested in Ahmedabad on May 31 and nearly Rs 1 crore was seized from them. Many cases of duping people of over Rs 1,800 crore have been registered against Jadeja and his aides in Rajasthan,Delhi,Pune and Kerala
since his arrest.
A group of members of Sansi and Bhantu tribes led by an advocate RP Singh met Mathura SSP A Satish Ganesh and said Jadeja and his men had visited Govardhan on March 14. They claimed that Jadeja had divine powers of doubling the amount. Following which,the community members handed over Rs 50 lakh to them. However,they are yet to get the money. The police have registered a case against Jadeja,his wife Neetu and eight others from Ahmedabad. The UP ADG (Law & Order) Brij Lal said the Mathura police would serve the arrest warrant to Ahmedabad jail to bring Jadeja to UP for interrogation.
