MLAs cast their votes in the polling held at Tilak Hall in the Vidhan Sabha complex in Lucknow

MLAs cast their votes in the polling held at Tilak Hall in the Vidhan Sabha complex in Lucknow on Thursday. Two MLAs had obtained permission to exercise their franchise in Parliament House,New Delhi.

* MLAs wait in queue to cast their vote for the presidential election on Thursday; Samajwadi Party’s tainted leaders Mukhtar Ansari and Vijay Mishra,and Bahujan Samaj Party’s Swami Prasad Maurya exercise their franchise.

* UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee has the support of the ruling SP Opposition Bahujan Samaj Party,Congress,a few smaller parties and Independent MLAs. NDA candidate P A Sangma is backed by the BJP.

* Polling was completed in presence of ECI observer A J V Prasad,UP Chief Electoral Officer Umesh Sinha,Vidhan Sabha Principal Secretary Pradeep Kumar Dubey and Special Secretary Anil Kumar. Dubey and Kumar are also the Assistant Returning Officers

* The two ballot boxes used in polling were stored in the strong room after the poll ended. The AROs will take the ballot boxes to Parliament House,New Delhi,on Friday morning by a flight.
