Drunk teenager held for rape bid on six-year-old

A teenaged boy abducted a six-year-old mentally challenged girl and allegedly made an attempt to rape her in Dhaurahra police station area of Lakhimpur Kheri district on Saturday.

The locals later caught the boy,who was highly drunk,and thrashed him before handing him over to the police. The Kheri Superintendent of Police (SP),Amit Chandra said the medical examination has not found any injury mark on the victims private parts and the vaginal swab has been sent for the laboratory test.

He said the incident took place at Sainipurwa village where Ram Singh Gautam (19) picked up the six-year-old girl while she was sleeping with her mother outside the house around 3 am. The boy returned after an hour to the victims house and tried to molest the girls mother,too. The woman raised an alarm and the boy was caught.

He was assaulted by the locals and later he confessed to abducting the mentally retarded girl and making an attempt to rape her. The girl was found lying in a semi-unconscious state in the thickets outside the village,the SP added.

The girl was sent for medical examination and her condition was stated to be stable.
