Two days after Shamim (28) engaged the Lucknow police in a 40-hour stand off that ended on Friday,his father was booked on Saturday for keeping his licenced double barrel gun within the reach of his family members. Dr Mohammad Shabbir has been booked under the 28/30 Arms Act (for contravening provision of his arms licence).
The case against Dr Shabbir was registered after it was found that his licenced gun was misused. We also seized Dr Shabbirs gun and sent a letter to the district administration requesting that his licence be cancelled, said Arun Kumar Dwivedi,in-charge of Bakshi Ka Talab police station.
Dr Shabbir has not been arrested,added Dwivedi. The doctor runs a clinic on the ground floor of his residence located at the Indaurabagh locality under Bakshi Ka Talab police circle.
The standoff began on Thursday afternoon when Shamim locked himself in a room at his residence and fired at the policemen on the spot. Sub-Inspector Arun Dwivedi and Constable Sandeep Jaiswal were grazed by bullets in the standoff.
