CHIEF MINISTER Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday claimed that the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP), “driven by the spirit of [Pakistan founder] Muhammad Ali Jinnah”, are “attempting to divide society in the same manner.”

Speaking at a district-level mega employment fair in Aligarh, Adityanath said, “Jinnah committed the grave sin of dividing the nation. The Congress and SP are committing a similar sin by dividing society.”

During the event, the CM distributed appointment letters to several youths and inaugurated as well as laid the foundation stone for 305 diverse projects worth Rs 705 crore.

The event was organised in Khair Assembly constituency area, which will see a bypoll soon. The CM has been holding such Rozgar fairs in the Assembly constituencies going to  the polls. Earlier this month, Adityanath held similar events, starting from Milkipur in Ayodhya, Katehari in Ambedkar Nagar and Meerapur in Muzaffarnagar district.

The CM also said that as the country reaches “new milestones in development”, some are working to fragment society. “Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014, the nation has been advancing. Meanwhile, the opposition is fostering anarchy by sowing seeds of caste discord in society.”

Targeting the SP, Adityanath remarked, “Those who achieved nothing during their tenure and were known only for their ‘kaarnamey’ (misdeeds), are unsettled by the rule of law in the state. These are the same Samajwadi Party individuals who once justified misconduct with the excuse, ‘ladke hai, aur ladkon se galti ho jaati hai’ (They are boys and boys make mistakes). They were responsible for compromising the safety of daughters.”

He asserted that in the double-engine government, “Those who jeopardize the safety of daughters and businessmen face a path to ‘Yamlok’.” He also criticised the SP chief, saying that Akhilesh Yadav has “no right to comment on women’s safety”. “His silence on incidents in Ayodhya, Kannauj and Kolkata speaks volumes,” said the CM.

He criticized the Congress, SP, and BSP for “undermining social cohesion” whenever they were in power.

He accused them of “using appeasement strategies to divert society from the path of development.”

Adityanath said, “The Congress has disrespected national heroes such as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Maharaja Mahendra Pratap Singh. The BJP is dedicated to honouring these great figures, as is evident by the university established in Maharaja Mahendra Pratap Singh’s name (in Aligarh).”

He accused the Congress and the SP of focusing solely on their “own interests.” Adityanath asserted that the double-engine government “practices non-discrimination and will not tolerate anarchy, disorder or hooliganism.”

The CM pointed out that prior to 2017, Uttar Pradesh was grappling with an identity crisis. “Today, UP is recognised as one of the leading states in the country. Therefore, we must ensure that this progress continues. The Samajwadi Party, if given the chance, would bring about riots, looting, and anarchy.”

He highlighted that employment fairs are being held across the state, providing youth with opportunities in the private sector.

During Tuesday’s rozgar mela, over 63 companies and firms issued appointment letters to more than 5,000 youths across various positions. Loans exceeding Rs 35 crore were granted to eligible individuals and MSME units through various schemes. Moreover, tablets and smartphones were distributed to over 1,500 students under the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana.
