The Congress and the BJP on Sunday slammed the SP government over the death of Khalid Mujahid,an accused in the 2007 blasts case.

The BJP blamed the state government for indulging in vote politics over his death. Party’s state spokesperson Dr Chandra Mohan said the state government recommended a CBI probe into the incident to appease the Muslims. Dr Chandra Mohan claimed that companions of Khalid had informed that he was ill and died due to his illness and thus there was no need for a CBI probe.

“When a high level enquiry was already ordered there was no need for a CBI enquiry,” he said.

Congress MP from Barabanki P L Punia,on the other hand, blamed the state government for Khalid’s death. Punia said that there was a “foul play” in the sequence of events quoted by the police.

Punia said that Khalid’s family members are saying that he never used to wear jeans, lower or T-shirt and preferred kurta-pajama,but when his body reached the district hospital in Barabanki,he was in a lower and a T-shirt,which raises doubts.

Punia had visited Barabanki district hospital on Saturday night, where Khalid was brought after his condition deteriorated.
