Cold wave continues,schools shut

On account of the intensified cold wave,the district magistrate of Lucknow has ordered that schools will remain closed up to Class VIII for three days starting Monday,but teachers will have to attend.

Mercury dipped appreciably across Uttar Pradesh as several places witnessed light rain and thundershower during the last 24 hours.

Cold day conditions prevailed at isolated pockets in Kanpur,Lucknow,Agra divisions,but its intensity will reduce in the next 24 hours,Met department sources said.

Night temperature fell appreciably in Agra division,the Met said,adding that the lowest minimum temperature 4.4°C was recorded at Etawah.

The Met office said that light rain and thundershowers would occur at isolated places and fog would occur in many pockets in the state.
