CM asks officials to speed up pro-people schemes

The chief minister’s directions were communicated to senior officers,including Divisional Commissioner,IGs (range),DMs and SPs,at a review meeting held by Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh and Chief Secretary Anoop Mishra in Lucknow on Thursday.

Mayawati also wants action initiated against criminal elements,particularly mafias,under the Goonda Act. She told them there should not be any laxity in such actions. She has also told police officials to fill up vacancies for chowkidars in police stations.

Officers have been asked to distribute good quality blankets among the needy and poor as winter sets in. According to a press release,the government has allocated a budget for all the districts for the purchase of blankets.

Mayawati also wants 100 shelter homes across the state to be completed before December 31. The release said the government has allocated a budget for making 131 shelter homes. Of the proposed 131,only 31 shelter homes are ready now,the release added.

The CM’s focus was also on health facilities like regular immunization programmes,appointment of 1,800 doctors,health insurance scheme,Janani Suraksha scheme and availability of medicines in government hospitals.

Regarding Savitri Bai Phule scheme,her emphasis is on completion of verification works of applications before December 31 to extend benefits of the scheme at the earliest possible. She asked her officials to ensure that benefits of this scheme reach girls who are studying in madrasas. She also asked the DMs/SPs to complete the task of selection of centres for the UP board examination within a week.
