Clash breaks out in Agra
A minor clash broke out between two communities in Agra’s Mantola area on Monday,leading to the incidents of brick-batting and arson in the area. According to police,a quarrel between some boys playing at a cricket ground led to the tension in the locality. Agra Senior Superintendent of Police Subhash Chandra Dubey said two communities which reside on either side of railway track,indulged in brick-batting for about twenty minutes. He claimed no one was seriously injured in the brick-batting.
Lanka minister seeks help from IISR
Lakshman Senewiratane,Sri Lankan Minister of Sugar Industry Development,on Monday urged the Lucknow based Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research (IISR) to technically support the sugarcane industry of Sri Lanka. Speaking at a function at IISR,the minister said that Sri Lanka is producing only a limited quantity of sugar which is able to meet only 6 per cent of its domestic requirements while the rest is realised through imports. He said that the sugar ministry itself has been created only an year ago in Sri Lanka and much collaboration can be done with India. In this background,he urged the IISR to technically support the Sri Lankan sugarcane industry,saying that we have much to learn from IISR, and also emphasised the need for signing an MoU with IISR.
Clerk held for taking bribe from cop
A clerk at the office of Lucknow Senior Superintendent of Police was arrested on Monday for allegedly taking bribe from a police constable for releasing his travel allowance and dearness allowance. A Lucknow police spokesperson said clerk Rajesh Yadav was arrested.
