Centre eyes a Guinness record in PM Modi’s aid distribution in Lucknow to differently abled

The PM will first visit Varanasi where he will distribute aids and appliances to more than 8,000 divyangs (differently abled) at DLW sports ground.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a day-long tour to attend three major events in Lucknow and one in his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi on Friday.

Significantly, officials from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment claimed that it will be the “biggest camp for the distribution of aids to disabled people” and the government will later attempt to get the achievement listed in Guinness World Records.

Sources said around 3,216 tricycles, 2,290 hearing aids, 1,734 crutches, 774 wheelchairs and 479 artificial limbs will be distributed at the camp. All beneficiaries have been picked from Varanasi.

From the same venue, the PM will flag off the ‘Mahamana Express’ connecting Varanasi and New Delhi. The train will begin its first journey from Friday. In Lucknow, the PM will address the students of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University during its sixth convocation. He will later move to Colvin Taluqdars’ College ground to distribute e-rickshaws.

The PM will then go to Ambedkar Mahsabha office where he will offer floral tribute to Ambedkar’s urn. During the events in Lucknow, the PM will be accompanied by Union Home Minister and MP, Rajnath Singh. The Prime Minister will return to Delhi Friday evening.
