WITHIN DAYS of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s trip to Bundelkhand, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is set to his visit the region on January 27.
At Bundelkhand’s Mahoba district on Saturday, Rahul had targeted both the BJP government at the Centre and the SP regime in Uttar Pradesh for alleged apathy towards farmers.

Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan, who had recently spent a night at a village in Banda, said: “The chief minister will visit Shahjahanpur village in Bundelkhand’s Jalaun district on January 27 and meet people.” The chief minister will visit the village during the day and not spend the night, he added.
“During the day-long visit, the CM will hold a chaupal with villagers to know about their problems. He will meet public representatives of the region,” said Ranjan.

Last week, after it was announced that Rahul would visit Bundelkhand, Akhilesh had listed the initiatives that have been taken by his government for the region. He had spoken about Ranjan’s visit and how his government was working to provide better wages and work through MGNREGA to villagers. He had also said that he would visit the region personally to listen to their grievances.

However, Rahul, during his visit to Mahoba, had alleged that SP government was ignorant towards the problems of the farmers of Bundelkhand. He had claimed that if the central and the state governments had implemented MGNREGA properly then people would not have migrated from the region.
