While the BJPs UP unit has already formed a committee to analyse the reasons for the UP Assembly election debacle, the partys former national general secretary (organisation) Sanjay Joshi has begun a separate process to collect feedback and suggestions directly from workers.
Joshi has sent letters to office-bearers of 2,700 divisions across the state seeking suggestions for the partys future strategy and direction of work. Suggestions have also been sought for better methods to raise issues.
The letter also asks party workers to share their Assembly poll experiences through letters and emails.
The letters have been separately sent to divisional level office-bearers to collect their feedback. But the agenda of sending letters and constitution of analysis committee is the same. The reports of both will be discussed collectively, Joshi said.
However,Joshis letters have worried other leaders. Sources said that the some state leaders were expecting Joshis interference in the partys UP affairs to end after the poll debacle. But Joshi has tried to develop direct communication with ground-level workers through letters and emails, indicating that he will continue to play an important role in the party before next the Lok Sabha elections, said a BJP leader.
Joshi had played a key role in selection of candidates and planning the election campaign this time.
Joshi will be in Lucknow for two days next week to review the poll performance with other state leaders.
The BJP won only 47 seats in 2012,compared to 51 seats in 2007. A committee to hold Assembly constituency level-meetings and identify reasons for the debacle was formed. The panel started submitting its report on Friday.
